Islamabad: Federal Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani has said children are future assets of country and the present government is doing a lot for their welfare.
Addressing two-day international conference on “Community based empowerment of vulnerable children”, organized by Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) held here on Thursday, Bijarani said government is taking serious steps to protect children rights especially focus is being given over help of special children.
Bijarani claimed that government would control the menace of terrorism from the country soon, adding that Pakistan People’s Party has practically struggled for coping with the nation’s problems. The eighteenth constitutional amendment and NFC award is the fruit of this democratic system, he hinted.
Dozens of people from all walks of life participated in the conference along with the foreign delegates of Indonesia, Turkey, Kenya and Bangladesh. The minister said the government is intended to motivate the social sector organizations, which are striving hard for children’s well being while legislative and administrative projects are under way for the welfare of children.
He said that PPP government has worked for growth of the democracy in the country so that the democratic environment should be provided to next generations. He said that millions of people including a large number of children in Sindh were homeless because of the flood, adding that government has succeeded to face the challenge by shifting them to their houses.
Renowned columnist Orya Maqbool Jan said that there is no concept of orphanages in Islam and it is the responsibility of the child’s family to take care of him if he becomes orphan at any stage of his life. Our society has forced the women segment of middle class to go out and earn livelihood for her family. Consequently, despite of making a large number of day care centers children do not get good care and attention, which they deserve.
